Blackfen Library uncertainty

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 15th Oct 2004

Despite widespread public opposition to moving Blackfen Library, the Labour Council has continued with the plan.

However, the project is now running behind schedule and no offi cial opening date has been set.

There is still uncertainty over the future of the existing library site in Cedar Avenue. There are two main

possibilites: The Labour-run Council could sell it off to property developers or it could remain as a Council

building in public use.
