POLICE PRESENCE IN EAST WICKHAM INCREASED

12.00.00am GMT Wed 10th Mar 2004

Your Liberal Democrat team is pleased to report that the Police presence in East Wickham has increased as part of the Community Safety Partnership with neighbouring Falconwood & Welling. The changes were outlined at the latest meeting of the Residents Panel and attended by Lib Dem Councillor Nick O'Hare and campaigner Tony Pickett.

The team will be based at Welling School and will be led by Sergeant Simon Ashenden, supported by PC's Michael Wearing and Peter Munden, together with uniformed Police Community Support Officers.

The team will be working shifts and will provide cover from 8am-10pm daily and right up until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The residents panel will work together with the newly constituted Police team and the Council to ensure real progress is made on tackling major issues of concern, such as youth disorder, graffiti and fly-tipping.
