Liberal Democrat London mayoral candidate Simon Hughes called on local residents in Belvedere in anticipation of the decision of the public inquiry into the proposed incinerator. Liberal Democrat Bexley & Bromley London Assembly candidate Duncan Borrowman, who spoke against the proposed incinerator at the public hearings, said; "Simon wanted to hear what real local people had to say about the incinerator and other local issues - such as the lack of facilities for young people. Next year Simon is favourite to beat Mayor Livingstone, and he is keen to hear from residents in our local area."
