Save East Wickham's Open Spaces

December 2, 2008 12:16 PM

Grace Goodlad at Hill ViewLiberal Democrat campaigner Grace Goodlad has pledged to fight for East Wickham's open spaces to be protected after being contacted by local residents regarding the future of the Hill View council offices.

Grace Goodlad says: "Bexley Council want to demolish the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath and build a brand new headquarters for the Council. If the plan goes ahead I am concerned that that council staff at Hill View will be moved to the new building, and the site will be sold for housing. This will increase traffic in the area, put pressure on local schools and be a blight on the local environment.

"The fight starts now to ensure that the site is not over developed and the local environment is protected for the good of all local residents.

"The Liberal Democrats have a strong record of fighting for East Wickham's green spaces. It was East Wickham Liberal Democrat councillors who fought for years with local residents to stop Oxleas Woods from being destroyed by the original East London River Crossing plans, which would also have cut right through the open space by Hill View."
